“You can’t have Valentine’s Day w/out Black History Month…” unless you have a time machine and kill Dr. Carter Woodson…but why would you do that? Evil prick

The Comedian’s A Bear!
When will Fozzie Bear be officially recognized as the greatest Muppet comedian of all time?
“I’m not saying you’re not free to be yourself, but when you’re doing something that is clearly ignorant and at the expense of others in your community, that’s a different kind of thing. I made MANOJ because I am sick of that. There is enough racism in comedy directed towards us, why are we adding to it?”
~Hari Kondabolu on why he made the above documentary, MANOJ
Aw man, 40 Acres and A Stool is bringing our unique brand of hilarity to Laughing Skull Lounge tomorrow! Being 3 states away keeps me from making it but it doesn’t keep me from being excited. Heat!
In the words of my girl Joyelle,
“Come be a part of the first all African-American show at Atlanta’s own Laughing Skull Lounge (insert your own joke here).”
So Atlanta, April 19th, 8 pm this is where you need to be.
Cool Ass Cosby
I got nosebleed balcony seats to see Bill Cosby for my birthday later on this week at the Chicago Theater. Very excited.
Meet one of my boys, @robertistheman
About 10 months ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Rob HaZe after seeing him perform at New Earth Music Hall in Athens, GA, as part of AthFest 2010. Just in this short period of time, Rob has grown as a comic by leaps and bounds; landing him a coveted spot within the increasingly popular 40 Acres and a Stool comedy group (Dulcé Sloan, Odinaka Ezeokoli, A.K., & Joyelle Johnson).
As a hilarious combination of witty and silly, all I can say is that it’s about damn time Rob got some attention. Not only is he funny, but he’s a delightful person to be around; always happy to be getting on stage and eager to bring the funny.
Rock on, Rob!
Jessica Hinckle: What has it been like for you since you dove into the local comedy scene?
Rob Haze: It has been great moving here from Athens, this past August; everyone has been really supportive. It’s like a big family and everyone has welcomed me with open arms.

40 Acres & Friends!
Come laugh, kick off your March right! Oh, what’s that? The show’s on the 6th so you’ve already ample time to kick of your March? Well come hang with us anyway. It’ll be awesome.
40 Acres and a Stool tonight at Itza Taco! 8:30 If you’re in McDonough, Ga tonight don’t let this dope flyer be a waste.
A lot of guys are great, but they don’t want to hit hard. To hit like Tyson up there, that shit is — I just presented some award to Oprah at the Kennedy Center. I probably did four minutes, five minutes. It’s weird — you go up there, it’s like, what’s the guy in Lord of the Rings who puts on the ring and he’s invisible? Then he lets it off and he’s sweating, like it’s so hard to be fucking invisible. It’s hard to hit homers. I try to hit homers. I’m not a singles hitter. I’m swinging like Sheffield every fucking time. As hard as I can.

Other cool quotes from this interview.
“Howard Stern’s a bad motherfucker…Reduce Howard Stern to an hour every four years, you’d have the most brilliant comedian who ever lived. It’s not even close.”
“It’s [stand up] the thing that I can do at a high, high level. Amongst the best. You’ve got me and Seinfeld and Ricky Gervais and Louis C. K. and Larry the Cable Guy.”
“SR: You ever doubt yourself up there trying to get laughs?
CR: There’s doubt the whole time. One of the best compliments I ever got was Conan saying to me, “You know what I like about you? You’re smart enough to be scared. So many guys come on cocky, they don’t want to go over their stuff, they don’t want to do a pre-interview. You’re always smart enough to be worried till the last minute.” That will not stop. You get some guys who get all cocky and they fall right on their fucking face.”
Also his angle on the Lebron-Cleveland thing makes me laugh…but of course
Happy Valentine’s Day!
From Andre 3000, my friend, babiscorp86, & Naka On Wood!
Who doesn’t like this one from 3 Stacks? And the Sims themed video babiscorp made is kinda hot.
In the spirit of today we’ve got a dope show planned tonight at Smith’s Olde Bar for all my Atlanta folks.
F-Off V-Day
I know these are two dueling messages—the syrupy sweet video up top and a lynched heart at the bottom. But we live in a world of dichotomies, people. Everything’s not cut and dry. Anyway, If you’re gonna be getting some tonight, you might as well laugh beforehand.
And a happy Monday for everybody else that doesn’t care either way

What were you going to do on Valentine’s Day? Just go ahead and make room for this in your schedule too. Comedy at Smith’s Olde Bar. I’m hosting. C’mon you’re gonna get some anyway so you might as well. We’ll make it worth your while.
This morning a friend of mine shared (via Google Reader) a note by Odinaka saying that OD was thrilled to be opening for Maria Bamford at the comedy club here in town tonight and tomorrow, and said I should try to make it out. I thought I’d be busy with rehearsals, but as it happens I wasn’t called tonight, so I made reservations and decided to go.
At about 3:45, it started snowing. The department of transportation in Nashville had only stocked enough salt to cook a decent pot of spaghetti, and had used it all up back during the FIRST #snowpunsignifyingtheendoftheworld of the year, and couldn’t be bothered to go out to Kroger or Publix or wherever and get some more salt, so the roads which would ordinarily be only mildly treacherous were actually pretty dang dangerous, and it took me an hour and a half to make it a distance that normally only requires twenty minutes to traverse.
By that time reports were coming in of three-hour commutes, and it looked to be getting worse before it got better—but perseverance won the day, and I made it out to the club, and Bamford was wildly entertaining (as was OD, although the sound system didn’t carry his voice well).
The roads are still nasty slick, and bridges are still salt-free and will be treacherous tomorrow, but I’m home and curled up in bed and entertained. Here’s some Maria Bamford for the rest of you.
Hey thanks so much for braving the snow to come out! That shit was thick! We were afraid folks would be scared to leave their homes but y’all were a live-ass audience! Definitely appreciate it!
I always like to think the reason I was always ahead in English subjects my whole life was because I successfully learned to spell my full name. Oh and my parents are Vin and Julie, I feel this guy’s pain! haha
Lol, shout out to Chukwuma. Glad you could relate bros!
