I always like to think the reason I was always ahead in English subjects my whole life was because I successfully learned to spell my full name. Oh and my parents are Vin and Julie, I feel this guy’s pain! haha
Lol, shout out to Chukwuma. Glad you could relate bros!
Shout out to the good folks over at Creative Loafing for profiling me as their ATL Comic of the week. Pretty cool all the love I’ve been getting from folks since this went up. All very humbling and much appreciated!
If you haven’t seen the profile already click through the pic to check it out!
Also 40 Acres and Stool’s 1st show is tonight at the Basement Theater here in Atlanta, 9 pm. Join us for some talented tenth tomfoolery! Be there or be a mule.
GPOYW: Telling jokes edition
Celeste Echols of Aviditiy Photography has been ripping up the comedy scene here in Atlanta taking photos at alot of shows, several nights out of the week. The girl definitely gets it in so it was only a matter of time before she caught yours truly. These were taken last week at one of my favorite places, Relapse Theater, at the Remiked UnMiked Open Mic show.
Anyway, if you have an event coming up, look Celeste up. She’s good for it.
*Performing with Godfrey this Friday and Sunday at the Laughing Skull Lounge here in Atlanta and am low key, geeky excited. I remember back in 2002, I had just come back to the States after graduating from High School in Nigeria and saw this dude on TV talking about Nigerians and he had me howling.
Seeing someone, that not only looked like me but was also from where I was from, on Comedy Central blew my 18 year old mind. “Nigerians doing stand up? Get outta here!” lol
After seeing Godfrey I got up the next day and bought my first joke book where I recorded every funny thought I had there after. I still didn’t gather the courage to actually get on stage and tell jokes to a live audience until a few years later but that night in my living room was a pivotal moment for me. It’s funny how that happens though, I always loved and wanted to try stand up comedy since I was 11 but thought it was way too far fetched to even attempt until seeing someone similar to me on TV doing it.
And now I get to perform with Godfrey this weekend. So it’s a childhood fulfillment of sorts. And if he turns out to be an asshole we’ll just forget I ever wrote this.
*Click the picture for tickets. Sunday 9:30 show is half off with promo code ‘rabidelves’
David Cross on Tea Baggers (via Bluejayjay)
Lol, as a fellow ATL born comic I’m just gonna take credit for all of David Cross’ thoughts…well only the ones I agree with.
Can’t help but insert my own run-ins with the tea party at the Georgia State Capital earlier this year.
CNN Black Antarctica Commercial 3 of 10— Flakes
Being Black in Antarctica ain’t easy. Momma told me there’d be days like this.
The Running With Scissors comedy show is tonight at 9! We’ve got some really funny folks lined up for y’all tonight. No cover, priceless fun.

this is amazing.

What up.
Tomorrow, ie Friday the 20th, I’ll be hangin at the Relapse Theater performing w/ the Make Me Laugh comedy show crew & living up to the show’s name.
Next week we’ll be doing the second run of A.A.C.’s (Art as an Agent for Change) play “Where Hip Hop Lives” and I’m excited! It’s a poetisical (think musical but replace the music w/ poetry…now throw away all the thoughts of corniness and you got the idea) surrounding 2 DJ’s and their combat against their conniving boss, callers and themselves. I’m better at performing than explaining so come check it out. We’ll be in Macon on Tuesday the 24th performing at Club 567’s Poetic Peace show and then we’ll be bringing it up to Atlanta next Thurs the 26th at the Relapse Theater.
On Monday I’ll be hitting up one of my favorite comedy spots, the Star Bar, at 9 in Lil 5 Points. The place is always fun, funny and unpredictable and surprisingly I haven’t been there all year so I’ll be happy to “return.”
I”ll be ending the month doing a guest set w/ my boy Eric McGee (who will be featuring) at the Gypsy Comedy Club in St. Augustine, Fl next weekend, Feb 27 & 28.
& I’ll be doing the Funny Farm’s regional open mic show on Wed, March 4th, 8 p.m.
