I wish I could drink milkshakes the way Michael did. You think this was a stunt double?

The Secret of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” Forward Leaning Move
The late King of Pop pioneered dance moves that looked mechanical and weren’t, like the moonwalk, and at least one that looked mechanical and was: The forward-leaning maneuver from his “Smooth Criminal” video. The secret is all in the shoes.
Trying to lean beyond one’s center of gravity normally leads to a giant, awkward step forward to retain balance, so to achieve the 45-degree angle he wanted, Michael and his dancers used special shoes as well as a trick in the stage floor. When the time came for the move, a peg-like aperture would protrude from the dance floor. The heel of the dancers’ shoes featured a triangular cut out that could be hitched onto the peg, anchoring the dancers to lean much farther forward, and thus blowing the world’s collective mind. Now I must recreate
“As far as Thriller specifically…Mike did something that no one else had done….he created the musical bridge for mainstream music from the 70’s to the 80’s…he was the cat who survived the 70’s and led the way to he 80’s, where most other 70’s cats were tryna figure out what to do next…most of them were doing disco knock-offs and praying for their survival…
people glaze over it now…but what soul/R&B figure could create a hit rock record that was embraced across the board…AND considered authentic by the rock audience?(the snobs may have been pissed off, but they werent the ones buying the records)…what soul/R&B cat was collaborating with Van Halen….and have it WORK?
it wasnt Prince….w/out Beat It, could you have a Let’s Go Crazy?
what other soul/R&B cat could get one of the Beatles on Black radio in the 80’s?
what soul/R&B cat would get Vincent Price to drop spoken word in the middle a funk/R&B cut cum horror movie?
who was else at the time was incorporating African chants and percussion at a time when everyone was whitening it up sonically(including MJ)…and who would reference Soul Makossa in the 80’s?
listen to the fact that a Black artist who was considered strictly soul/R&B decided to do a stylistic tour de force in one album when it hadnt been done before…”
Like that this post puts Thriller in context of ‘84 and how hard it was for this album to achieve what it did.

“Another thing that makes me sad about MJ’s death is that people will focus on the weird shit, but his pro-Blackness will go unmentioned.
Make no mistake about it, ever-changing skin color be damned, Michael Joseph Jackson was one of THEE Blackest motherfuckers in music.
I mean, seriously…Mike is the same cat who 1) Called Tommy Mottola a devil…..2) Sang about a beautiful African woman in “Liberian Girl”
3) Sang “white man’s gotta make a change” live on the Grammies in ‘88….4) Sang an African chant at the end of “Wanna Be Startin…”
And let’s not even mention “They Don’t Really Care About Us.” Who you think the “they” and “us” were?
Even though MJ was the biggest star in the universe, deep down he knew that underneath it all he was still just a nigga from Gary.
RT @lovelyone80 in black or white he said “I ain’t scared of no sheets”«<all types of ebonics and talking about the KKK
RT @djtopspin He threatened 2 pull all his vids from MTV in the 80s until they aired more black artists as well. He was the musical ‘Ali’
And also, the “Remember the Time” video took place in Egypt and portrayed Black people as kings and queens. MJ was nobody’s sellout.”
I’m sorry, but it’s quite self-involved of you to credit their revolution to how much Americans are paying attention. To say their revolution is over because of us is wrong on so many levels. They are their own country, they are their own people, they have their own revolution, and they are strong. We diverting our attention towards something else temporarily isn’t going to bring down their cause because we are (rightfully) only offering moral support anyway. To imply otherwise is simply presumptuous and, quite frankly, arrogant.
