Me and my A.A.C. crew (Art as an Agent for Change- Do holla) messed around & made a series of “How to Become Famous” promos for our Poetic Notions event comin up on Saturday, April 18th. It’s our 2nd annual poetry slam w/ talent to spare! I’ll be hosting & it’ll be down at GCSU (Max Noah Hall) so come see about us, Middle Ga! Can’t wait to bring this up to Atlanta.
Walked into the Warren to perform and had one of the best sets I’ve had in a while thanks to some help from a not-so-silent audience member that gave me a hilarious riff for about a minute or so. Even though I was only on stage for 6 min I think I took advantage of just about every moment.
Tonight was my 96th peformance and I’ve grown sooo much since my humble beginnings (I’m still in those beginnnings). I can’t wait to see where I’ll be by 300. Anyway, 3 comics after my performance Ron White comes out from behind the curtain to perform and you could feel the energy in the room rise. Now a little background, this was @ The Warren in Virginia Highlands, which is one of the best local showcase rooms in Atlanta… but not a place where big names come through. So Ron White bein a surprise act tonight was kind of a big deal since someone on his level has never been through. Needless to say it was a great show and now I can say I opened for Ron White (albeit accidentally, but that’s only for you ODumblrs to know). Yes you read right, I Odinaka Ezeokoli, single-handedly integrated the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Had to put a lil Green White and Green in there, haha. I”m tired excuse the typos. Good night.
Performin in Milledgeville tonight (ie Friday, April 3) for all my GCSU and Milly family. Blackbird Coffee, 9 p.m. Peace & God bless
Going on a retreat this weekend w/ my Campus Catholics crew from the alma mater, GCSU (Shout out!) I hope I open myself up to grow a lil, learn a lil, reflect a lil
This was a great weekend!
It started off last Thursday with my audition video (see Honor Code video posted earlier) being unofficialy accepted! What audition video, you ask? I was being considered to speak at my alma mater, GCSU, during their freshman Week of Welcome about some of the rules for conduct in college and more specifically, make those rules interesting and engaging. The folks at the college (shout out to Gina Peavy and Dr. H) seemed to like rough vid I showed them and now I will get to talk to the entire incoming freshman class about Reason, Respect, Responsibility and anything else the college wants me to touch on… and get paid for it- too easy and fun!
Then I went down to St. Augustine, FL to do my first guest set w/ my homeboy Eric (who was featuring) at Gypsy’s Comedy Club. They loved me and invited me back to feature for 20 min in the summer! That would be my first paid gig as a comic and I get to do it in sunny Florida. As of today I’m only on performance no 84 so I’m excited to be even considering getting paid to do what I love so early in the game. God is good and unpredictable.
I’m looking forward to writing more and performing more to squeeze out the best 20 min I possibly can in the coming months.
I was asked to speak about the Honor Code of my alma mater, GCSU. This is the result.
