a while ago, i read an article on that no name guy that started apple (lol). “i’m going to die someday” felt like the perfect answer when i did a bunch of things i wanted to do. and i loved that i saw the article at the time…just to validate that i wasn’t crazy. i’ve slowed down, tremendously, but it’s only because i preparing for the next phase of my life. taking steps. one at a time. (i.e., like it was preached to me last year - 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10…1; 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10…2; 1.2.3……..)

I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

Because almost everything; all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

When I saw Dave Chappelle live back in ‘07 he opened his show saying, “I don’t know if you guys know this, but you’re all gonna die.”  Great way to start a a comedy show, haha.  Thanks for posting.

Trying to remember this right now

Be undeniably good. When people ask me how do you make it in show business or whatever, what I always tell them and nobody ever takes note of it ‘cuz it’s not the answer they wanted to hear — what they want to hear is here’s how you get an agent, here’s how you write a script, here’s how you do this — but I always say, “Be so good they can’t ignore you.” If somebody’s thinking, “How can I be really good?”, people are going to come to you. It’s much easier doing it that way than going to cocktail parties.
